South of the Border Fiesta Party
At one time much of the western US was a part of Mexico. When the US gained possession of the western areas, many Mexican people chose to stay. They carried on many of their traditional fiestas which are mainly held on religious or civic holidays, such as Cinco de Mayo. Descendants of the original Mexicans have been Americans for generations and many fiestas are now a mix of Mexican and American culture.
Americans have taken a liking to Mexican fiesta traditions. For a great theme party, the Southwestern or Mexican fiesta is an easy theme with a huge supply of party items available for this theme. The sky is the limit when decorating a fiesta party.
For an adult only party you may want to serve delicious margaritas, enchiladas and quesadillas. Have a salsa making contest to get everyone involved in the party. Have dance instruction for the Macarena or salsa dancing. You can easily keep your guests entertained with Mexican foods, dancing and games.
Decorating with a Fiesta theme is really fun. Straw sombreros or Spanish hats for everyone, Mexican music, bright colored streamers hung and draped all about along with blinking red and green lights to spice things up. Balloons in such shapes as cactus, sombreros, chili peppers and Mexican flags are sure to add to the atmosphere. Fun table décor in fantastic bright colors such as Mexican bowls, margarita glasses, plates, service ware and table covers contribute to the genuine feel of Mexico.
Put up the decorations, grab your sombrero and let the fiesta begin!
