A five year old’s birthday party is something that they look forward to for a long time. It is also a significant occasion for parents because it often means it is time for the child to go to kindergarten and to make more friends. Throwing a birthday party for your five-year-old can be a notable and enjoyable occasion.

Whether your child is a boy or a girl, it’s probably safe to say that they have some favorite characters. Building a theme party around their favorite Disney characters or SpongeBob Squarepants is a simple way to make them happy and ensure that they are suitably impressed. They will be thrilled with the little touches like the napkins, cups and plates emblazoned with the popular characters from their favorite movies or television shows. Bubble machines are a fun addition to any party. They can be used again and again; all you have to do is re-fill the bubble juice as it runs out.

For older kids who may or may not want to be called “tweens,” one of the new favorite shows is Wizards of Waverly Place. Having a Wizards party complete with invitations, temporary tattoos and ID tags, along with matching table ware is just one of the many options that are available for tweens. Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana are two more popular choices.

Party favors in the form of practical jokes are also fun. Treat bags can be filled with disappearing ink or fake doggie doo, along with whoopee cushions. Shopping online for your child’s birthday party can ensure that you get everything you need, whether it’s Disney Princess plates for your toddler or black crepe streamers for your 13 year-old’s Gothic party.

When it comes to throwing a birthday party and sorting out the decorations, you have probably already thought of balloons. But have you really thought about what sorts of balloons are available? Do a little research before settling on plain teardrop-shaped balloons because you will certainly find other types of balloons that may be more entertaining for your son’s birthday party.

Long balloons such as those that clowns use to make toys can be blown up and wrapped into a variety of shapes. Both long and traditional teardrop balloons come in every color of the rainbow, along with the more non-traditional metallic colors. This is only the beginning of balloon options. You can easily find balloons in the shape of comic book or cartoon characters; you can fill the Coyote with helium to chase his nemesis, the helium filled Road Runner around on the living room ceiling. Ah, the wonders of helium.

Fill some balloons with helium and some with air so that you have balloons on every surface and some hovering on the ceiling. As well as being a simple, effective decoration, balloons offer your guests a wealth of entertainment. Watch out for air drafts going through the house. When a helium-filled balloon gets outside it will quickly lift out of reach and you won’t see it again.

Balloons of all sorts and styles are inexpensive and easy to find. Your balloon decorations will be the hit of your son’s birthday party.

At one time much of the western US was a part of Mexico. When the US gained possession of the western areas, many Mexican people chose to stay. They carried on many of their traditional fiestas which are mainly held on religious or civic holidays, such as Cinco de Mayo. Descendants of the original Mexicans have been Americans for generations and many fiestas are now a mix of Mexican and American culture.

Americans have taken a liking to Mexican fiesta traditions. For a great theme party, the Southwestern or Mexican fiesta is an easy theme with a huge supply of party items available for this theme. The sky is the limit when decorating a fiesta party.

For an adult only party you may want to serve delicious margaritas, enchiladas and quesadillas. Have a salsa making contest to get everyone involved in the party. Have dance instruction for the Macarena or salsa dancing. You can easily keep your guests entertained with Mexican foods, dancing and games.

Decorating with a Fiesta theme is really fun. Straw sombreros or Spanish hats for everyone, Mexican music, bright colored streamers hung and draped all about along with blinking red and green lights to spice things up. Balloons in such shapes as cactus, sombreros, chili peppers and Mexican flags are sure to add to the atmosphere. Fun table décor in fantastic bright colors such as Mexican bowls, margarita glasses, plates, service ware and table covers contribute to the genuine feel of Mexico.

Put up the decorations, grab your sombrero and let the fiesta begin!
